Decorative Rock Over 30 colors!

Living in Southern Colorado, landscaping with decorative rock is not only low maintenance, but also fits the recommended xeriscaping technique. We offer over 30 different sizes, colors, and cost per ton to meet your choice and budget.

Rock is easy to install and can be used in "hard to landscape" areas to help with erosion.

To estimate the amount of rock needed, measure the length and width of your area. This gives you the square feet (sq ft). It is common to lay rock 3 inches in depth. To estimate the number of tons necessary, simply divide the sq ft by 80.

Below is an example for an area measuring 20' x 160.'

Multiply 20' x 160' = 3200 sq ft
3200 / (divided by) 80 = 40 tons!

This chart will help you determine the amounts you need. These figures represent what one ton of 3/8", 3/4", or 1 1/2" of rock will cover:

220 sq ft @ 1" depth
110 sq ft @ 2" depth
80 sq ft @ 3" depth
60 sq ft @ 4" depth
50 sq ft @ 5" depth
40 sq ft @ 6" depth

Driveway, Base, & Walkway Material

We suggest using a driveway base material for any area that will be used for driving. Base material contains 3/4" or 1 1/2" rock down to a fine material. This combination allows the base material to bind together and set up as a hard surface. It is recommended the application be at least 3 inches deep. Bases come in a variety of colors to match your landscaping schemes.

Walkways can be designed using the above base materials or with a material called "breeze." This is a 3/8" material that sets up very hard. Breeze is also recommended as a base for laying flagstone.

Flagstone & Wall Stone

Flagstone

Flagstone can easily be installed to create beautiful patios and walkways. We have a variety of colors to choose from. One ton of flagstone covers approximately 140 sq ft. The pieces are usually from 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" thick. We suggest laying flagstone in a breeze so that the base will set up and help keep the flag from moving around. The cracks between the flagstone can be filled with breeze, grass, or small flowering ground cover such as sedum. A new product called Polymeric Sand, which is available and highly recommended, adheres to the flagstone and sets up hard. A rule of thumb is one (1) ton of breeze to one (1) ton of flagstone.

Thinner pieces of flagstone or moss rock veneer can be used to cover the outside of your house, inside fireplaces, a hearth, or outdoor barbeque pits. Visit our diplay area to see examples of this use.

Wallstone

Wallstone comes in larger pieces, some nearly rectangular in shape, quite thick, and varied in color. Using a natural stone makes a beautiful retaining wall or division within your landscaping design for planters or edging. Our staff will be happy to help you determine the amount you need.

Our sand has been acclaimed by stucco companies as well as residents using it for play areas.

We offer concrete parking blocks and a complete line of Pavestone Products. We also offer a sand and rock mix, used for making concrete. It is sold by the ton and is economically a wise choice rather than purchasing by the bag.

Specialty Items

Benches

One of a kind, all natural benches are available with large tinaja planters on either end. The planters support the bench seat. We are the only dealer in Sourthern Colorado to carry these! Check the website http://www.stoneplanters.com for ideas and pictures. Our supplier also brings us museum quality pottery. So come by and look at these exquisite pieces in our landscaping office.

Tinajas

We are proud to have a unique selection of outdoor planters from Mexico! These are natual volcanic rock planters, chisled out to hold your plants. Since they are a natural volcanic product, they do not crack or break from the cold temperatures. They come in natural colors and are absolutely beautiful in groupings.

Bend-a-Board, Steel, & Trex Edging

We have several choices of edging materials - Bend-a-Board, galvanized steel or rubber edging. Bend-a-board is made from recycled plastic and has long lasting cedar color. The steel comes with a regular or rolled edge. Using a vinyl safety cap with the regular edge will help prevent cuts to children or pets.

We carry industry standard railroad ties, 6" x 6" x 8" treated timbers.

Composite timbers and posts that are virtually indestructible! Unlike treated landscape timbers, they will not rot, bend, break, or change in color! They can even be painted. This product is ideal for our climate. They can be used as planters, edging, parking blocks, retaining walls, fence posts, and the list goes on!

Weed Barrier & Fabric

Recommended for use under decorative rock, our fabric is a commercial grade heavy material. Rolls come in 3, 4, 6, 9 and 12 foot widths. The rolls are 300 running feet. We will gladly custom cut a length with no additional charge if you do not require a full roll!

We have a full line of soaker hoses and parts to build your own underground sprinkler system. It is proven that by watering underground, you not only conserve water due to less evaporation, but it is better for your grass, trees, and flowers to keep the water at the roots!

Bark, Mulch, and Woodchips

We carry a wide variety of mulches and bark that will help maintain moisture retention for your trees and bushes. Proper mulching not only reduces water usage, but keeps water from evaporating from plants. Soil that is mulched reduces weak growth and keeps plant roots cooler. One (1) ton of mulch covers approximately ~108 sq ft.

Boulders

We carry a wide variety of boulders to enhance your landscape and create a dramatic accent to mounds and wildflowers. Boulders are sold by the pound and prices range from $ .03/pound to $.09/pound. A boulder 3' x 3' x 2' will weigh about one ton (2000 lbs). So a one ton boulder could be purchased for as little as $60.
